Break Past your Limits. Understanding Fear in Modern Day Society.

Fear

I’ve had this feeling my entire life, ever since I began to understand the world, society, and emotions. It was not just a feeling but a fear. Fear that I would not have a long enough life. As I have begun to discover this is not a fear or feeling, rather reality. In the grand scheme of things, we would be more than blessed and lucky to live to 100. The earth’s been here for millions of years, and humans thousands. But the deeper I dug into this fear, ripped and declawed it apart, the understanding of living a short life I understood this was not a true fear. The fear was not living at all, not creating something that will live much longer than myself.

Fear is not talked about in this society, fear seems to be something our culture runs from, fear is usually the unknown, or the untrustworthy. Fear, is not looked at as something that has kept us alive for millions of years, rather something that currently holds us down. Fear is the darkness at night, because we do not know what is around our environment we fear this unknown, fear has kept us from going out in the dark. Fear has been protecting us for thousands of years from real dangers, but it has begun to protect us from being outliers in society.

Personally, I have learned my fears and understood my fears. My fear of not living a long life, has helped me understood the life I really want to live. Fear has enabled me to want something greater for my life. My fear has made me aware of what I strive for leaving my mark. My fear has protected me from being average. What is your fear protecting you from?

Fear has the ability to cripple you, paralyze you from chasing your dreams and ambitions. To overcome your fear you must learn, and understand your fear. Personally, I have learned that my fear has protected me from feeling defeated, embarrassed, discouraged, and all of the above. This was not what fear was meant to be. Fear was not meant for twentieth century society rather protecting our ancestors form real fears. Humans developed this now type of fear over time, to fit in and be the norm. But if we fit in we are average, we diminish our gifts. Each individual was created with unique abilities and characteristics to make us different. Let your fear motivate you. I fear every day I will not make a difference, I fear I will be normal, I will not leave something lasting, something lasting for people to see. So be different, understand your fear, let your fear help you understand yourself better.
